5 solutions for the "No Airport Card Installed" error on Mac OSX

"No Airport Card" is a common error that can occur on most macbooks, especially those that are produced from 2008 to 2010. But never fear, since the internet is here to the rescue! I have compiled 5 possible solutions (arranged from easiest to hardest) so I recommend that you try it one by one until all of them work for you. (PROTIP: the last two solution on this list has a 99% chance of succeeding, even on older models, but also requires that you fork over some dollars)

1. Turn Airport off and on agan - you probably have already tried this, and chances are it didn't work.

2. Restart the macbook

3. PRAM restart - turn off and on again, when turning it on, hold the power button along with command, option, P, and R buttons until you hear their trademark gong sound 3 times

4. Send to your nearest apple care center - if you still have warranty, then perfect!! you should be able to get a fully fixed macbook in a couple of weeks (depends on where you live, here in asia, it takes about 15 days) with little to no cost. But if you don't, I advise that you don't even bother going there, the cost will absolutely kill you (their representative gave me an estimate of around US$210 to have it fixed, not to mention the ridiculously ling turnaround time)

5. The "plug and forget" third party solution - i'm talking about a usb peripheral that emulates all the functions of an airport card, this is the best solution, especially for those older models that just won't cooperate, because it will only take about 3 minutes to install, and for me at least, it actually performs faster than my original airport card. I personally recommend and use the Edimax nano USB adapter because it is small enough to not inhibit my second USB slot, and it comes at a very low price. A step-by-step guide on how to install this device can be seen here.

How to install wifi usb adapter to your macbook (Edimax Nano)

Here is a step by step guide:

1. Get the necessary drivers - there are two ways of doing this, if you have access to an external HD that can read mini discs, you can skip to step 2. WARNING: a macbook by default CANNOT read mini discs, and will jam your disc drive. if you don't have access, you can get the necessary drivers from their website (borrow another computer for a while and transfer the folder that you will get via usb, or connect the macbook via cord to the wifi during installation)

You may get the drivers from this page

if you have an external cd drive, all the drivers can be found on the mini-disc

Go to the bottom of the page, and select what type of OS your mac has, then download the drivers by clicking the orange circle.

2. Once you have the drivers folder, there will be two zipped files as follows:

Once You Go Mac, You Never Go Back: Honest Reasons Why People Switch To Mac

I used to be an MS fanboy... yep, one of those that troll Playstation forums daily and practically praise everything that Bill Gates and co. push out. But a few years ago I had a change of heart, now, I wouldn't even touch any hardware MS releases, why? well here are some honest reasons why I made a switch:

1. Virus! Virus! Virus! - An unprotected Windows PC has more viruses than your neighborhood hooker, while a Mac is just as susceptible to malware as a bottle of alcohol is to bacteria. No wonder it took only a year for my windows - based notebook to hit the bucket, while my Macbook, which was bought in 2008, is still going strong.

2. Less Clutter - Whenever I try to remember my PC's desktop, all I can remember is a cluttered desktop, and a constant balloon popping up that says that it blocked a popup. While my Mac's desktop only has 6 icons at most.
